The First Virtual Business Meeting of a Surrey Council

A Virtual Business Meeting of the Pride of Surrey Council was held via the Zoom Video Conferencing tool on Wednesday 13th January 2021. There were 17 Companions of the Council present at the meeting, and one guest, our District Grand Master, R.Ill.Comp. David J Blackburn.

The First Virtual Business Meeting of a Surrey Council The Presiding Officer, Ill.Comp. Steve Jones, Thrice Illustrious Master, declared the meeting open and welcomed all present.

The First Virtual Business Meeting of a Surrey Council The First Virtual Business Meeting of a Surrey Council The Presiding Officer welcomed our distinguished visitor, R.Ill.Comp. David J Blackburn, to this, the first Virtual Business Meeting of a Council to be held in the District of Surrey. He thanked Tim and Chris for setting up and running the meeting, and also thanked them for the work they will be doing running the District Annual Meeting to be held via Zoom on the 27th March 2021.

The First Virtual Business Meeting of a Surrey Council He said that due to the Covid situation all the 2020 Active Officers would be re-appointed in March for a further year. He congratulated David Thompson, Alan Boniface, Chris Eley and Barry Northmore on their re-appointments. Also Tim Ford on his first appointment to the past rank of Past District Grand Steward.

The First Virtual Business Meeting of a Surrey Council As no ballot had been called for, the Presiding Officer declared Ill.Comp. Stephen Jones as T.I.M. and Ill.Comp. Tim Ford as Treasurer for a further year.

The Almoner gave his report. The Presiding Officer thanked Tony for all the work he has been doing during this difficult time by staying in regular contact with everyone as our Almoner. It is appreciated by all the Companions of the Council. It was felt that the recently set up WhatsApp Group has been successful in enabling us all to stay in touch.

The First Virtual Business Meeting of a Surrey Council The Presiding Officer, Ill.Comp. Steve Jones, Thrice Illustrious Master, proposed that the sum of £300 be donated by the Council towards the Surrey Mark 2022 Festival. This was seconded by Ill.Comp. Tim Ford, Treasurer, and approved by the Companions.

The First Virtual Business Meeting of a Surrey Council Our District Grand Master thanked the Companions of Pride of Surrey Council for their generous donation which brings their total donation to the Festival to £500. This will be very much appreciated by the Provincial Grand Master, RW.Bro. Ian Clark.

Alms were donated by bank transfer into the Council bank account. Before the meeting was closed Comp. Recorder thanked Ill.Comp. Tim Ford on behalf of everyone for setting up and running the very successful Virtual Business Meeting.

The Presiding Officer, Ill.Comp. Steve Jones, Thrice Illustrious Master, then declared the meeting closed.
