A Visit to Derbyshire

Due to the suspension of Masonic activity the Annual Meeting of the District Grand Council of Derbyshire was held as a Virtual Business Meeting on Saturday 6th February 2021. Attending was the Grand Master, M.Ill.Comp. Kessick John Jones, the Assistant Grand Recorder, Ill.Comp Dan Heath, and Companions from many other Districts. Our District Grand Master, R.Ill.Comp David Blackburn, and I were among the 80 plus Delegates that attended the meeting.

A Visit to Derbyshire The District Grand Master, R.Ill.Comp. Alan Beckerton, declared the meeting open and welcomed all present. The District Grand Recorder, Ill.Comp. Stephen Hardie, read the permission to hold a Virtual Business Meeting and the Dispensation.

A Visit to DerbyshireThe Minutes of the Meeting held on the 1st February 2020 were approved by the Companions. After the regular business of the District was completed, the District Grand Master announced that he was appointing V.Ill.Comp Bryan Tynan, P.G.Lect., as Deputy District Grand Master and V.Ill.Comp. Michael Cullen, P.G.Lect., as Principal Conductor of the Work. The District Grand Master asked the District Grand Recorder to read the names of the Companions appointed to and promoted in District Grand Rank.

After the District Grand Recorder had read the names the District Grand Master congratulated those who received appointment or promotion in the District Grand Council of Derbyshire and invited the Grand Master, M.Ill.Comp. Kessick Jones, to address the meeting.

The District Grand Master then addressed District Grand Council, thanked everyone for attending and declared the meeting closed. Although I have attended many Mark and Scarlet Cord, Provincial and District Virtual Business Meetings over the past few months this was my first visit to a District Grand Council Virtual Business Meeting.

It was especially good to visit Derbyshire again – my last visit was in the early 1960s when I used to go rock climbing in the Peak District.
