Another Virtual Business Meeting of Pride of Surrey Council

A Virtual Business Meeting of the Pride of Surrey Council was held via the Zoom Video Conferencing tool on Friday 5th March 2021. There were 17 Companions of the Council present at the meeting, and two guests, our District Grand Master, R.Ill.Comp. David J Blackburn, and our Deputy District Grand Master, Ill.Comp. Peter Kipps, P.G.Capt.Gd. The third member of the District Executive, Ill.Comp. David Thompson, P.G.Swd.B., District Grand Principal Conductor of the Work, was also present, as a member of the Council.

Another Virtual Business Meeting of Pride of Surrey Council The Presiding Officer, Ill.Comp. Steve Jones, Thrice Illustrious Master, declared the meeting open and welcomed all present. The Recorder, Ill.Comp. Chris Eley, read the Letter of Permission to Hold the Meeting and the Dispensation.

The Presiding Officer welcomed our distinguished visitor, R.Ill.Comp. David J Blackburn, to this, the second Virtual Business Meeting of the Council. He thanked the Council for the invitation to join their VBM and spoke about the District Annual Meeting to be held via Zoom on the 27th March 2021. He said that due to the Covid situation all the 2020 Active Officers would be re-appointed in March for a further year. He congratulated David, Alan, Chris and Barry on their re-appointments. Also Tim on his first appointment to P.Dist.G.Stwd.

Another Virtual Business Meeting of Pride of Surrey Council This would have been the Council’s installation meeting. Due to the Covid-19 restrictions Ill.Comp. Steve Jones is continuing in office as Thrice Illustrious Master. Comp. Recorder, on behalf of the members of the Council, congratulated Ill.Comp. Steve and wished him a successful second year. The Council Officers are to remain in office for a second year.

The Almoner gave his report. As news is available it is shared on our WhatsApp group. The T.I.M. thanked Tony for all the work he has been doing by staying in regular contact with everyone as our Almoner. It is appreciated by all the Companions of the Council.

A discussion took place regarding charitable donations. The Presiding Officer, Ill.Comp. Steve Jones, Thrice Illustrious Master, proposed that the sum of £300 be donated by the Council towards the Surrey Mark 2022 Festival and the sum of £100 be donated by the Council towards the Surrey Royal Arch Cuddle Cot charity. This was seconded by Ill.Comp. Barry Northmore and approved by the Companions.

Another Virtual Business Meeting of Pride of Surrey Council Alms were donated by bank transfer into the Council bank account. Before the meeting was closed Comp. Recorder thanked Ill.Comp. Tim Ford on behalf of everyone for setting up and running the very successful Virtual Business Meeting.

The Presiding Officer, Ill.Comp. Steve Jones, Thrice Illustrious Master, then declared the meeting closed.
