A Royal Meeting of the Pride of Surrey Council

On the 6th September 2021 the first Royal and Select Masters meeting in Surrey since the resumption of Masonic meetings was held at the Sutton Masonic Hall.

A Royal Meeting of the Pride of Surrey Council The Council was opened by the Thrice Illustrious Master, Ill.Comp. Steve Jones, who welcomed everyone and hoped they would enjoy the meeting. The District Grand Director of Ceremonies, Ill.Comp. Simon Mccarthy entered and advised the Thrice Illustrious Master that R.Ill.Comp. David J Blackburn, District Grand Master, was in the ante room and demanded admission. The District Grand Master entered and was offered the gavel. He said how good it was to be meeting again and how encouraging it was to see the Temple so full.

The District Grand Master presented Silver Trowel Certificates to Ill.Comps. Barry Northmore and Ian Keen, who had recently taken the ceremony at Weald of Surrey Council.

A Royal Meeting of the Pride of Surrey Council Ill.Comp. Steve Jones was Proclaimed Thrice Illustrious Master for a further year and installed his Officers for 2021/22. A ballot was taken for Comp. Wally Maynard to become a joining member. This proved in his favour and Comp. Wally was warmly welcomed into the Council by the Thrice Illustrious Master. The main item on the agenda was to Honour as Royal Masters Companions Bill Jowett and Jeff Flint. The ceremony was conducted by the Thrice Illustrious Master assisted by the Principal Conductor of the Work, Comp. Steve Wigmore, in a very personal manner. The District Grand Master congratulated Companions Bill and Jeff on taking their Royal Master Degree.

A Royal Meeting of the Pride of Surrey Council After the Council was closed and the customary photos taken, we all retired to the dining room for a lovely meal prepared by the new caterers, where we received a very warm welcome from Shelley and her team.

A Royal Meeting of the Pride of Surrey Council Everyone agreed that it was a most enjoyable afternoon, not just in the Temple but being able to be together again afterwards.
