A busy afternoon in Sussex

On the 11th of January 2022 a number of Surrey Cryptic Masons drove down to Sussex to attend three special meetings held at The Charmandean in Worthing.

A busy afternoon in Sussex The first was a special meeting of the Gordon H Jones Council of Installed Masters number 304. A Council of Thrice Illustrious Masters or the Order of the Silver Trowel was opened by the Thrice Illustrious Master, Ill.Comp. Paul Hollebone and the minutes were approved. The Degree of Thrice Illustrious Master was conferred on Illustrious Companions Colin Stanley and Jonathan Wadlow in an excellent manner by the TIM/King David, Ill.Comp. Paul Hollebone; the Senior Warden/Zadok, Ill.Comp. Steve Campbell; the Junior Warden/Nathan, Ill.Comp. Angus Cameron; and the Officers of the Council.

A busy afternoon in Sussex The District Grand Master, R.Ill.Comp. Bernard Marchant, congratulated Illustrious Companions Colin Stanley and Jonathan Wadlow, and presented them with their Silver Trowels, telling them to be very careful putting them on their apron flap as they are made of hallmarked silver.

After the regular business of the Council had been completed the Council was closed. The District Grand Master thanked the Surrey team for driving down to support the Council meetings.

A busy afternoon in Sussex The Worthing Council of Royal and Select Masters number 187 was opened by the Thrice Illustrious Master, Ill.Comp. Geoff Field. The Companions of Worthing Council welcomed Ill.Comp. John Gough, the Deputy District Grand Master. Illustrious Companion John said how pleased he was that his first official visit to a Council since his appointment as Deputy District Grand Master was to his own Council.

The main item on the agenda was to Honour as a Royal Master, Comp. David Lanz. The ceremony was conducted in an excellent manner by the Officers of the Council, especially the Principal Conductor of the Work, R.Ill.Comp. Mik Barnes.
